Dr André Kruger (The Fast Doctor) is an complimentary health practitioner and Medical Doctor who manages the Hoogland Health Hydro fasting retreat in South Africa. He has many years experience in assisting people to fast on water and due to his in depth knowledge of alopathic medicine as well as complementary medicine he is extremly well equipped to support clients with complex medical issues who are on various forms of medical drugs. In his understanding of health he does not believe that complimentary medicine and alopathic medicine are necessarily mutually exclusive. Although he prefers the natural approach to healing, he suggests that there are some instances when conventional medicine can be of benefit in the healing process. Dr Kruger's definition of fasting like most Natural Hygienists, is water only and he believes in what he calls an Active approach to fasting where ellimination cycles are performed in order to assist the body to get rid of toxins by way of sweating. He has found this approach to vastly improve the experience of his clients who fast under his supervision.
