Please note that in the strict sense of the term fasting implies either drinking just water or no water and no food which is called dry fasting. Also a true fast does not begin until all the food in transition has been digested and all the glucose in the blood and liver has been consumed. At this stage the body will start to dip into its fat reserves. This can take anything up to 48 hours. After this initial period you can say that you have entered a fast. In the loose sense of the term fasting can be simply breaking from one's usual eating habits and behavior. And it can also be a period where one releases more toxins than usual due to the type of 'fast' adopted or simply a physiological rest. Here at Fasting Connection fasting usually implies water fasting especially when dealing with The Fast Doctor who specializes in water fasting at his fasting retreat in South Africa.

The Mono Fast

Mono food fasting is the use of a single food or combination food liquid to achieve specific targeted results as opposed to a general cleansing with water. An example of this would be black cherry juice to target cleansing of the colon, and connective tissues of the body. Many people have found great relief from gout with this routine.
