Hi guys, I posted before in September for my 30 day fast. I think I made it up to 10 or 11 days. As of today, I'm going on a 23 day fast, breaking it on Christmas Eve. I'll keep track of it here.

The main reason why my fast didn't work out for long last time was because I was moving into my dorm, lots of stress, not a good time. Now, I have time to relax and fast.

Message back, I'd like to hear from you guys!

Jessica

It's still my first day, but it's already about 3 PM. The first few days are usually the hardest, especially because I'm so used to eating. After awhile though, I get into the habit and it seems almost unnatural to eat.

I'm going to take a shower now. I'll probably update tomorrow.

*EDIT* Fast starts tomorrow. I decided to do a 22 day fast instead. Anything that puts the thought to stop is a condition, and that is all. I will pull through.

*RE-EDIT* I decided to just go with the 21 day fast given that this forum is for 21 days. :) I might go longer, but this is my goal. Stay tuned.

Please, dear Grasslily, remember that your decisions should always remain subject to BIOFEEDBACK. There are numerous reasons to abort a fast and these can crop up unexpectedly. You can always start again so please let your body's guidance take preference over a random number.

The same holds for the "end" of a fast.. if you feel good at 21 or 22 days, there's no reason to stop just because 3 weeks earlier you decided on a number. I believe 40 days remains the ultimate fast. But in my research I have found that the weekly one or two days by "adding up" to more than 60 per year is as beneficial in most respects.

We'll "look in" on you from time to time..

You're right, Andre. If I feel fine, I might go longer. I just sometimes worry that I'll be nutrient-deprived and get a heart attack. But that won't happen if I only go, at the most, 40 days?

Another question, is feeling a bit down normal in a fast? I don't really mind, but I don't feel in high spirits. This usually happens when I'm fasting.

In the Western world we are all drowning in nutrients. I have yet to see a "deficiency" or someone "deprived" of nutrients so no, that's not likely the issue. And even if so, heart attacks are caused by excesses (such as cholesterol, triglycerides, nicotine), NOT "deficiencies". Walk through a coronary unit and all you see are well fed or overfed people and a few gluttons.

Feeling "a bit down" is normal, particularly in the first few days. Your body is mobilizing toxins and as these enter your blood stream they can make you feel down. That's why I advocate ACTIVE fasting instead of the old traditional passive do-nothing-wait-to-get-better approach. Make sure that you do at least a morning and evening (5-step) cycle of detox and you will likely feel on top of the world soon.

I'm sorry, but what is the morning and evening 5-step detox?

I checked out the previous posts and found out what you mean. I didn't know you posted this before, sorry. :)

Well, it's day 2. My joints hurt, but otherwise, I'm doing pretty good.

Things are ok. I only fasted for a couple days, on and off, sort of preparing, and my 21 day fast is off. I'm starting a 30 day fast as of today, so I might start a new post in that forum. The only problem is family Christmas dinner. I might have an fast interval in between those 30 days, if that needs to be done. Otherwise, I'm fasting from the 17th of December until January 15th, with the possible exception of very little (courtesy reasons) on the 25th (christmas). possibly christmas eve, since there's also another family dinner, but since most people in my heritage eat not much on christmas eve, I probably won't. We'll see.

I note I forgot to remark on your question regarding 40 days. I don't like extending beyond 40 days as apparently this is how much micro-nutrients are stored in your body. This was first published about 6000 years ago when the first Scriptures were inspired and it was confirmed in Russian research during the communist era, quite independently of any religious texts. But long fasts are typically "healing interventions" only really necessary when there's something to heal. One day per week gives you 52 per year, and that's plenty for ordinary "maintenance" work.

Looking forward to your reporting on what transpired up to new year..
