Has Anyone Here Ever Done a "Fast" of Only Raw Vegetables and Water?

Has anyone here ever done a "fast" consisting of only raw (organic when possible) vegetables and water? I am thinking about doing this. If I were to do something like this, I would probably only eat raw organic collard greens, raw organic turnip greens, raw organic broccoli, and purified water as my only beverage, for anywhere between 3 days to two weeks. I am thinking about doing this because I currently have a large cavity in one of my wisdom teeth, and I plan on attempting to heal it through this type of diet/"fast". I also just want to experiment with this type of diet/"fast" to see what happens in general. I want to see if it improves my cognition, makes my teeth naturally white, ameliorates my blood health, and so on.

No but I did do two 40 day fasts on juices. The experience was just fantastic. The most noteworthy thing was how my sleep improved. And so much restorative work goes on during sleep. It also radically reduced my stress levels. Re the tooth cavity have you come across Weston Price's protocols. I also have a cavity and it does not appear to get worse when I am on top of things with my diet. I have also started brushing my teeth with a very soft brush and soap. The current soap is totally natural but does contain glycerine however I have just sourced another bar soap which is natural and is glycerine free. Please keep us posted we could end up with a section decimated to teeth :) And thank you for sharing your story.

YES And it does NOT WORK! At least, not for me. The only way I can successfully fast longer than 24 hours is to do it right and that means ZERO FOOD, zero taste and WATER ONLY...otherwise I EAT. I would suggest that eating - even just veges - is not a true fast and will lead to breaking the "diet" prematurely. ;) But that's just me.,,and the Fast Doctor.

Indie,

I agree, or at least that's been my experience as well. The only difference between your successful fasts and mine is that I can drink black coffee during my fasts and never have any urge to eat. But I will not (and cannot) ingest anything that has calories because it will trigger the mechanisms that cause me to consume food.

When I completed my forty-two day fast, I drank black coffee, but had zero calories. I knew going in that this was the only way to do it for me. My willpower isn't very good once I start eating foods, so I know that even consuming an ounce will adversely affect my fasts. Part of it is psychological, in that once I have eaten anything, I know (being true to myself) that I have broken my fast even though I have only ingested (e.g.) one ounce of food.

Consuming only raw vegetables and water would actually be easier than water-fasting, because at least one would be getting a little nourishment from the vegetables rather than not getting any nutrients at all (besides water). I did an experiment once. I had been water-fasting for about a day or two, and I felt absolutely miserable and was experiencing sharp pains in my stomach. I then decided to succumb to temptation (a little) and ate a raw green vegetable that I would normally not enjoy eating at all. However, when I ate it, I felt a little better. This just goes to show that, as I originally stated, water-fasting is more difficult to do than consuming only raw vegetables and water. Therefore, if one can water-fast for a week or two, one should also be able to consume nothing but raw vegetables and water for at least that duration.

Link,

I think your statements are a bit too generalized. I would say that what you wrote is true for you, and not for all. I know for a fact that what you wrote is not true for me, because I have tried it. (See my post above yours.) But if it works for you, then that's great.

As for needing nutrients, I don't agree that this is necessary for all either because our bodies have many nutrient stores in them that are rarely depleted. I've fasted several times for three weeks or more (my longest is six weeks which I completed this past August) and I was fine in this regard. And I continued to exercise while engaged in this prolonged fast. Again, what is true for you may not be true for all.

Happy fasting. :)
