Hey everyone!
I'm ready for a 7 day water fast. Does anyone else want to join in? I'll probably start around 7pm tomorrow (Saturday). I've been wanting to do a longer fast but have been having trouble getting past day 2 or 3. The motivation hasn't been there, but I feel ready and motivated now. If anyone else would like to join in for either longer or shorter fasts, please feel free to post here. I could use some encouragement and it reinforces my goals when I can help encourage someone else.

I plan to run for a couple hours on Sunday with a group of friends. I'd also like to experiment with some interval training with my running during my fast as well, using some ideas I learned from The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss.

So who else would like to start or continue a fast with me? Let's encourage each other. Together we can do this!!!!!

I'm so excited! There are quite a few of us fasting together. It is so much easier to fast when there are others fasting at the same time. I can feel that this is when I'm going to be able to do this. I feel just as positive as when I completed 10 days just before the beginning of February. Check out my blog to see my belly pix and you'll see my motivation for fasting. I let my husband know I was fasting for 7 days. I think this was a good idea for me because now I won't have him trying to get me to go out to eat. He isn't in agreement with my fasting but he will support me, as long as I don't try to starve him LOL. One thing I need help with is staying motivated to exercise while fasting. Obviously, I won't exercise with quite the intensity as normal while fasting. I have to confess that now that I have learned that I can control my weight much better with fasting intermittently, I lack some motivation to do as intense exercise because, well, fasting works better.

Anyway, it's 2 am here and I really should get to bed so I can rest up for my trail run. Happy fasting everyone! Lets keep encouraging each other!

Hi Lisa,
I would definitely like to join you on this fast. Today marks day 7 of my Dry fast which will lead to my 40 day Water fast and I could really use a buddy.
I am impressed that you can still go running while on a water fast. I was into week 6 of my running program (couch to 5 k lol) when I started my first long term fast and quickly realized the energy just was not there. I am hoping I can at least take daily 3 plus miles walks with this 2nd round of fasting.

Great to have you shini! Yes, it can be difficult to run when fasting. Especially when you feel weak and your weight is dropping every day. I mean where is the motivation? LOL. I don't usually run when dry fasting, unless I'm doing one of those "La la la, I'm just out here to smell the roses" kind of runs. Plus, I can't keep up with my normal running group and therefore I almost have to confess that I'm fasting...which a lot of people don't get, especially since I'm thin.

I went for my run. We ran for just over 2 hours, but we decided we wanted to go over this train bridge. The bridge was unused and the grass and weeds were growing up between the railroad tracks. We were bushwacking our way through and it necessitated more walking than running for a while, which worked out great for me since I'm fasting. I lost a pound and a half on the run, and that was after drinking a liter of water. After the run, I downloaded a couple new books on my kindle and took a nice hot bath. Now, I feel like a limp dishrag. I'm going to do some reading and some web surfing and just chill out for the evening. I feel some tummy rumblings but nothing too intense. I bought some carbonated water. The Fast Doctor recommends that because it makes your belly feel full. I think it will be good for me to sip this evening. Actually, I just realized that in 15 minutes, I will have finished up day 1! Wow. That went fast. See, this is why I like to time my fasting days from 7pm to 7pm. I'll be ending my fast at 7pm on Saturday.

Sunday, I began my fast at 109.5 lbs. My measurements were:
Waist 28.25"
Hips 35.5"
left thigh 19"
right thigh 19"
Left bicep 10.25"
right bicep 10.25"
Total Inches 122.25"

Today I took measurements again. I tried to take them at exactly the same places, although for the thighs and biceps I was guessing. The waist measurement was at my naval and the hip measurement was at my pubic bone.
Waist 26.5"
Hips 35"
Left Thigh 18.75"
Right Thigh 18.5"
Left bicep 9.75"
Right bicep 10"
Total inches 118.5
Total inches lost 3.75" in one day!!
Weight today 105.5 (lost 4 lbs)
Symptoms of detox today, Headache since about 8pm yesterday. Did one 5 step detox cycle this morning.
Feeling pretty positive. Except for the headache. I do have 8 hours of work ahead of me. Hopefully that will go okay. The best thing would be if I am totally busy and don't have time to think about how I feel. The second best thing would be to have clients spaced out and plenty of time to rest in between. (I bring my kindle to work)
The worst would be to be overbooked and feeling stressed out because of it. Happy Fasting!

Hi Lisa - try this for the headache. Sit upright with you eyes as wide open as you can make them then stick out your tongue as far as it will go. Do that 10 times. Then the same with the tongue pointing up and the same with it pointing down. It really works.
Congrats on the 4 pounds. That is a lot considering you are so slim already. Is the tummy bulge your primary reason for doing this? I have never dropped 4 pounds in 1 day and I am way fatter than you.
The day has been good for me so far. Not craving water nearly as much as I was yesterday and Saturday thank the Universe. I did a round of Green Tara Mantra this morning and my breathing and belly rolling exercises.
Skin brushing is up next.

Thanks for the headache remedy. I started to do it, and then my husband came into the room. LOL. So I waited until he left before going through it...Wow. That's odd, but it does work! I'll have to remember that one!

I think that I had eaten a lot of food on Saturday night, so my weight included a good bit of undigested food, which explains my bloaty belly. I also found as I was photographing myself, that I might have a distorted body image. I imagine myself fatter than I actually am. I've been contemplating that perhaps 98 lbs is not a realistic goal for me..perhaps I should just try to maintain 106-108 and just be happy at it and fast only if I get above 108. It's funny how much I wanted to weigh 110 lbs all those years I was 112 and couldn't get there and now, I get mad at myself for weighing 110. I'm thinking of ending my fast early...like tonight or tomorrow and just go back to intermittent fasting.

The headache remedy works because what it does is to reduce tension in the head, neck and upper back.
Nothing wrong with stopping the fast now if you think it is time and the If sounds like a great idea. I was watching one of Dr Furhman's interviews and he recommends 36-48 hour mini fasts as a great means of weight control once or twice a week depending on the individual. I think the regular 12 hour IF is fine for you and then the 36-48 hour once to twice a month. That combination plus clean eating and your running will keep you at the desired weight. Do you do any resistance training? That would help also. It will add a few pounds but it would not be noticeable.

Oh, I didn't know Dr Furhman recommends IF. Where did you find the interview? I would love to watch it. By the way, I was doing the headache remedy in the car this morning...persistent headache and I think the person in front of me thought I was insane LOL. It's the most wonderful thing I've heard of and I WILL be sharing that headache remedy. I hate taking medicines. I get "rebound" headaches when I take something for a headache....I get one 2 days later.

It didn't mention IF but it was a good interview. Thanks for posting it. I'll have to Youtube search for it. I love that book by the way. That's where I learned that kids have to try a food 9 times before they like it. That was one of the most important AHA moments of my parenthood. I let my kids take bites off my plate. That's why my kids eat tofu, broccoli, greens....healthy food, because I don't force them to eat it but I allow them to taste it and like it at their own speed. I keep forgetting what a resource you tube is. I'm so used to reading my information off the Internet. Thanks for reminding me!
