I have been attempting to accomplilsh even a 3 day water fast and blowing it.. so now thati have committed myself to this "7 day water fast" I AM ANXIOUS...NERVOUS>>>

i want so bad to reach this goal.. and if one thinks about it..whats hold me up...simple "ME, myself and I" ... im soo weak... esp when i feel a headache coming..im doomed. So if ever i feel a headache coming in this fast i will give my self an exemption and take tylenol...
So day one is today... no hunger yet..last snack was 2am this morning...so far almost 12 hrs no food...
i pray so badly that i will reach this...or i will be so frustrated with myself again...wanna break this cycle...

Its a tough call mhaiyrn76 as the anxiety works against your desire to succeed. So in essence the amount of will power you need to furnish to achieve your goal is proportional to the level of emotional antagonism. And its a vicious cycle as each failure causes even more upset. This is why we recommend shorter but more frequent fasts as a 24 -36 hour fast is easier to handle than a one off infrequent longer fast.

However there are some tricks which help with the longer fast which are: Connecting with buddies and supportive friends who understand what you are doing and encourage you to achieve your goal. That is one of the aims of this site. Then there is a visualisation technique where you can visualise yourself looking radiant after successfully completing a 3 day fast and also visualise yourself feeling good about transitioning with healthy foods. And there is good old fashioned reasoning with yourself where you remind yourself that you have already experienced eating on a daily basis and that food is there for you whenever you need it so you can feel relaxed about trying an experiment where you will go without food for 3 days, and remind yourself of the benefits of all the goodness you hope to get out of a 3 day fast especially when you feel tempted. And another trick is to drink a glass of carbonated water when you feel particularly hungry. And last but not least instead of setting a goal of three days which the unconscious really doesn't like tell yourself that you are only going to do a single day and then will see how you feel.
It is indeed a big challenge and I do know how tough it can be as I battle with the same problem myself as my will power is not as strong as I would like it to be (yet) I do wish you success :)

Thank you David,

I guess this is one battle i have to face to conquer self and to be on the path of self discovery... I think im addicted to food and just thinking of fasting and not have the one thing i go to makes me feel what we call as "with drawal symptoms".. i need to not rely on food to much!

Hello,
I will start my 7 day fasting tomorrow. We can be together in this and support each other. How is going your fast today? I know that the first 2-3 days are harder than the other so you have to be strong. It is sunny and hot outside. You can spare your time walking and enjoy the power of the Sun.

BR,
M.
