Had severe heartburn the other day. Never had it before, I had no idea it hurts so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack. I couldn't hold any food down and kept vomiting. So I figure I would fast and the heartburn went away. My stomach still feels uneasy. I should continue fasting then. It was a wake up call to eat better. I want to do a long fast but have a hard time getting over day 3.

A few things that could help for (against) heartburn:
* Regular fasting rests the esophagus so it works better, shrinks the stomach so there's less pressure to facilitate heartburn.
* Simpler meals. The simplest is a meal consisting of only one food.
* Avoid liquids from about 30 minutes before eating until about 2 hours after eating. Eat slowly and chew thoroughly.
* Stay upright for up to 2 hours after eating.
* Eat irregularly so your stomach does not get "programmed" to make acid just because it is "time to eat".
* Exercise before eating, rest after eating.

Hope this helps.
