Good to hear from you Yuliya, and I agree with David that you likely had a low blood sugar. People who fast regularly, however, become largely independent of blood sugar because their fats are "on standby" all the time.

Another explanation may be the presence of toxins in the blood at that stage. Very often whey I or my patients feel the way you describe, we just do a cycle of elimination and feel on top of the world thereafter.

In your case it was likely a bit of both.

André

Thank you David and Andre.

I was wondering if becoming ketotic mean that the hunger goes away or is greatly diminished?

I've never been able to get over the feeling of hunger in 3 days as much as I tried. That's partly why I never got beyond 3 days of fasting. Another reason is that I am always getting very weak on the 3-rd or 4-th day, and that's I guess is the sign of the low blood sugar.

Hunger, dear Yuliya, is a very complex phenomenon which is influenced by addiction, social habits, subliminal programming, real nutrient feedback and many other factors. One needs to experience REAL hunger (Such as induced by long fasting) many times before you can really distinguish..

Yuliya, are you certain your are ketotic? As it can take longer than three days to enter fully into ketosis. The weakness could be low sugar but it can also be your body letting go of toxins at least in my experience this is so. And I guess it could also be the effects of a pre-ketotic state just before your body switches fuel to fat reserves.

No, David, I actually thought that I still experienced hunger because I wasn't ketotic yet.

Right now I am eating mostly once in 24 hours and fasting longer on the weekends. My gum feels a lot better now, in fact I don't feel it at all. But when I try eating more often the discomfort quickly returns.

It seems that the less I eat the easier it is to go without eating.
I feel that now I am pretty much on 'stand by' to fast (just like I read in some of the posts on this forum).
I am very optimistic but occasionally I feel deprived.

One thing is for sure - I am spending SO MUCH LESS money on food right now, that it is a blessing in disguise...

Today I tried the 5 step elimination method for the first time.
I did all these things before, of course, but not exactly in this sequence. Wow, now I am getting what you, guys, meant by being on top of the world!
I did it in the morning in the end of my daily 23 hours dry fast (if I can call it 'fast') and usually at this time all my attention is focused on when I am going to eat. It's the "highlight" of my day now :) But this time I went for a 3 miles run first, than did the skin brushing, then took a hot and cold showers and then went to lay down.
I felt like I didn't even really need to eat that bad at all today after all this...
I did eat, since I already decided that I would, but I am looking forward to this weekend now - I am going to fast till Monday and will try to do the elimination cycle twice a day starting today.
Whereas before I felt slightly depressed thinking about upcoming fast, now I feel excited! :)

P.S. I am only thinking now that I won't be able to maintain my dry fast and to 5 step cycle at the same time. First of all I really don't see myself exercising to the point of sweat during dry fast, and second - the cycle involves taking showers.
But I now see more value in going through the cycle than in maintaining a dry fast.

Hello Yuliya!
I exactly know what you felt. The five step detox cycle is Dr. Andre’ s amazing little invention.
You know what, better more try the sauna/sweating just 15 min and then finish it with hot/cold shower.
First time I did that, I thought I died and went to heaven. Never been to heaven! Not yet. Lol!
Please read my post in regard to my first reaction about the detox cycle, I think it’s the 4th thread.

By the way I do the 3 days IF every week. I do not drink water unless I need to do my 5 step detox. I have been doing the cycle now for almost six months with the IF, now I do not need it as much. These days the 3 days IF is like “Cake Walk”.
Mind you I am not even that careful about diet. I am not that proud about it but that is the truth.

Good Luck!
Mrs. L
