I'm interested in all facts, opinions and experiences comparing these two approaches when it comes to health maintenance, health restoration, fitness increase, etc. (basically, every aspect of health you can come up with):

a) Dryfasting for 2 consecutive days at the end of each week (about 8 days a month).
b) Dryfasting for 4 consecutive days at the end or the start of a month.

If I recall correctly, André adheres to approach (a). It seems that the latter approach might go "deeper" (and indeed André has said his approach is more for maintenance), while still not being too much too often (just a hunch though).

What are your understandings? Are there any other routines (e.g. longer fasts, longer time in-between them, etc.) that you find valuable, and for what reasons, based on what known facts and/or experiences?

Hi Nidu,
I like the approach that I learned from Andre' that if you fast within 6-10 days of another fast, your body will switch to fat burning quicker because you keep your fat furnace stoked. I use fasting mainly for weight maintenance and to help me control bad eating habits. For that reason, I'd prefer to do two days weekly rather than 4 days monthly. It keeps me in the habit of fasting and when you fast quickly after another fast, it's easier. There are fewer detox symptoms, in my experience. My fasting schedule is built around my running schedule and the evenings that I am home to cook for my family. Therefore, I fast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hope that helps. Why not experiment on yourself and one month try the first approach and the next month try the second and see which you like best.
