Hello all, I am relatively new to fasting and wondering about the benefits of different length fasts.
I have been doing a weekly 1 day fast and also a couple of 2-3 day fasts which I have decided to continue doing monthly.
After 3 days of fasting I am enjoying the fast but also by then I have lost 3 kg and am underweight. So I have mixed feelings whether I should try something a bit longer or continue with frequent, shorter fasts.
I am wondering whether a longer fast can accomplish anything that frequent, shorter fasts cannot accomplish and if so how often should one attempt it. I do feel drawn to the idea of fasting for, say a week or more, mainly out of curiosity, but not sure if it's the best option for me because of my low body weight. ( I am 5'6" and 116 lb). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Dear Rothery, you could consider a long fast to "delve deeper" but a series of short fasts eventually achieve the same. I reserve longer fasts (more than 3 days) for treatment of specific conditions or for weight loss. For "maintenance" a short fast (1 day per week) is ideal.
