I have looked through some old topics but I couldn't really find an answer to my question.

I've been water fasting for quite over 10 days now and I feel constipated. The last 2 days I've started the day with drinking a glas of water with lemon, that did not work, so right now I am sipping on a cup of green tea. Is it better to move over to juice fasting? Or how else, if not doing a colonic of enema, can one deal with this constipation?

Thank you!

I've just read that prune juice is a great remedy for constipation, and that straight up (freshly made) apple juice also has good effect.

Any knowledge/experience on this?

I naturally have an average of 2 bowel movements per day, so there is no way in the world I would go without one fasting or not. During my 40-day fast if I couldn't go on my own I used suppositories. During the water fast I used daily enemas. This is what they look like www.fleetlabs.com/fleet_enema_products.php?panel=0

You can get a disposable small enema with saline solution or you can use suppositories at first if you like. There is no reason to break your fast. There are many doctors and fasting coaches out there who will tell you that you absolutely must have a daily enema while on a water fast. Especially the long one.

Didn't have any bowel movements here for my whole long fast but resumed within 24 hours of eating again, watermelon seems to increase my bowel movements the most. There are lots of foods with natural laxative or just having fiber helps as well and if there don't work you could use enemas like Milena said. Prunes is a well known laxative I don't like the taste of them but I am sure there help,

Great idea Cory! The only reason I suggested enema is so that CphBel would not have to break her water fast just so that she would have a bowel movement. This should never be the reason to stop the fast.

I usually only have a bm the first day of my fast, then about maybe day 4 or 5 I feel a little gassy. I use an enema kit. It was cheap and reusable and it holds I think a half gallon or a quart. Usually I fill it up once and expel that, then I fill it up again and fill my colon and if possible fill the bottle again and fill my colon so it contains the full half gallon of water. Then I do it one more time. The only problem is sometimes doing that brings up bile or makes you feel nauseated. I learned about this method from a free Ebook How and When to Be Your Own Doctor | by Dr. Isabelle A. Mose that you can find at
chestofbooks.com/health/Isabelle-A-Moser...wn-Doctor/index.html
Lots of good info. She says if you follow this method of colon cleansing, it can be as good as a colonic (Free but more of a pain in the butt LOL)

Thanks to all for great advice.
But I decided to 'break' my fast by eating a piece of cantaloupe melon and a couple of prunes - which cleared the constipation right up.

Now I'm back.. 2nd day of 'new'? water fast..
