Hi I asked in the if group but it doesn't seem like many if any fasted until there hunger returns.

I am sure the fast doctor will know but how long on average do people have to water fast for before there hunger returns. A know this will vary depending on the person just wondered what kind of length it normally is like between 4 - 6 weeks for example?

Also I heard you feel it in your throat and mouth but what does it actually feel like and can you miss it by accident?

Or if anyone here has actually experienced it I would welcome your input.

The topic has been sort of covered on the forum, elsewhere.
True hunger would be starvation, where the body has used all its fat and using other sources to use up.
I've not really gone into true hunger, quite close a few times, but would maybe one day try it.
Due to my low body mass/weight, I reckon about 4 weeks, or less to reach this stage.

When I'm outside in the sun, it seems to make me really hungry. Feel great, as my body is used to really low intake, but as it gets warm, I'm starting to feel true hunger. Reckoning that the sun stimulates senses, which must cause this. Fasting during summer really makes the body lean, especially now when one is stripped both of fat and clothes.

Lee,

I wish I could help you with your question. My longest no-food fast lasted forty-two days and I was not hungry in day forty-two. I could have gone on longer had my weight not been exactly where I wanted it to be at the time. Plus, my goal at the time was to fast for at least forty days so when I met my goal I broke the fast. I honestly believe I would have to fast for around sixty days for true hunger to return, but this is a guess at best.

I've been close, very close to true hunger. Started long fasts even when my body weight and mass has been at it's lowest (15.2 BMI). Got to 30 days and felt it starting to hurt - true hunger and feeling weak and dizzy sometimes. Visably I look thin, very skinny and in the summer getting around town without my top, I was asked you look very hungry due to my body being put into starvation mode.
To really push myself, then went on a two day march, with weight on my back (30kg) and walked until I couldn't physically walk any longer.
At the end, I had got down to 14 ish bmi when I felt I can't go on any longer and decided to stop.

I feel true hunger sometimes during the first day of a fast. (I have never fasted longer than 3 days). It happens as the glycogen is being all used up and signals your body to eat again. I can feel it in my mouth and throat, especially if I am around food it makes me feel all gaggy and my mouth waters.
I also get this gaggy feeling upon breaking the fast and depending on how long I fasted I could feel my mouth watering quite a lot at even the thought of food, for a few days after breaking the fast till I gain enough weight back.
When you wait to eat till you are experiencing true hunger (as opposed to toxic hunger which is felt in the stomach) the food tastes amazing. Most of us eat too soon and never get to experience this.
I don't know whether the true hunger experienced as the body enters starvation is exactly the same as the hunger you feel as the glycogen is used up... and I don't experience this hunger every time I fast...and I don't plan on putting myself into starvation to find out if there is a difference! It would be interesting to know whether others experience this?
