I'm on day 25 of an extended water fast and will be breaking it when my body is ready. I have lost a good chunk of fat cells and want to keep it that way (who wouldn't - haha). Anyway, my question is after I break the fast properly would transitioning into an IF lifestyle keep the weight off? For instance eating one day and fasting the next. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Hello RadicalDreamer site member Everyonegetsatrophy completed about 6 months of 010 alternate day fasting. He derived a lot of benefit and if you type in Google his user name and 010 you will be able to read all his blog entries and find out how much weight he lost etc. Do bear in mind that the benefits of this type of intermittent fast are numerous and go far beyond fasting for weight management. However the key to success revolves around will power which does not seem to be an issue for you. Good luck with your fast 25 days is quite an achievement.

Thank you David the blog is very informative and interesting. It seems he was able to gradually lose weight as well as maintain it. It will be experimenting with this as soon as my water fast end. I'm also very active with rollerblading so I'm curious how that will fit into the equation.

Hi RadicalDreamer. I've been alternate fasting for 15 months now. I have every intention of doing this for the rest of my life. I find it to be very rewarding. You might know that fasting slows your metabolism. Your calorie intake after fasting will need to be lower than pre-fast to avoid weight gain. I found that maintaining a low calorie intake everyday took will power and, well, it kinda took the fun outta life. Now, however, I fast one day (which is the easiest thing ever once your body is used to it) and on my feed days I get to eat really generously - it's like Thanksgiving every other day. I believe that if you start an 010 way of life on the heels of a longer water fast, you will remain in a partial state of ketosis, so even if you really indulge on your food days, you don't gain weight. Every now and then I have a social obligation that I can't alter to accommodate my fasting schedule, and at those times I go ahead and eat two days in a row, but I watch the calories, then I get right back in the saddle. Anyway, I think this is a great way to live and I wish you success.

Annie, that sounds perfect for me. I don't want to give up foods that I like so the alternate day IF seems like the path for me.
