Hi Folks:

This is my first post. I’m on day 7 of my 30/60 day juice fast. I’m going to go the distance until I’m off my blood pressure and cholesterol meds. Also in it to lose 60 plus lbs!

The first three days nearly killed me. I still have lots of pain in my joints and I still feel cloudy in the mind. I understand this will go away in week three.
I’d like to know if I can replace juicing vegetables and instead use the green super food powder. I am already using the super food powder and adding it to my veggie juice every day.

Why? I can barely get it down. I love the fruits but juicing Kale, celery, cucumbers and the like makes me nauseous. Will I get the same benefits by just using the power? I’m drinking a gallon of water a day plus my juice which is about 32-64 ounces a day.

Thanks

I have trouble with some of the juices, too.

Here's one that I make that works really well for me...

2 Kale stalks
1 Bok Choy stalk
1 Celery stalk
1/2 Cucumber
1 cup Cabbage
1 cup Spinach
2 Lemons
2 thumb-sized ginger root
4 Apples (2 granny smith, 2 red delicious)
2 Pears
1/2 cup Strawberries
1/2 cup Blue Berries

I juice the greens first--kale, spinach.

Then I juice the celery and bok choy.

I follow that with one lemon.

(That cleans all the juices out of the machine pretty nicely.)

Then I put in the berries and follow that with the other lemon, ginger root, 2 of the apples, then the pears (in that order) and clean the machine out with the last two apples.

If I have them, I'll toss in a handful of baby-carrots.

If I have beat tops, I'll put in one or two, as well. I'll also put in a leaf of swiss chard, romaine lettuce or collards in lieu of the kale if I'm out.

Oh, and sometimes I put in about 1/4 cup of parsley.

I can handle that juice pretty well.

Anything with beats makes nauseous, though, so I've been trying to find ways of putting a beat into other juices so that I don't notice it... Not having the best of luck on that...

Ive been on juicing for 14 days now and planning to do 30 days, then eat a week or two and on to another 30 days of juicing.

Since I started juicing long ago I found that I do not like complicated mixes. I like to mix two or three together and it works great. I do put in the occasional apple or pear in to give it a sweetness or different taste I am after.
My advise is make a very small amount of juice of one vegetable. Sit down and just taste it on your tongue - determine what it taste like to you (salty, sweet, bitter, etc. Once you know the taste of the vegetable/fruit on its own, you can make your mixes with confidence because you know what you will get.
To expand - For example once celery is juiced it taste salty. So it mix really well with tomato, and makes a great drink if you like tomato juice.
Its almost the same as with cooking, determine the taste of the ingredient on its own - then you will know what will work well together.
You are probably already finished with your juice diet but worth a try in the future.

Thanks for that Gaba.gal, that really makes sense. Thanks for sharing this way to do juicing. I've always wondered how to make good juice mixes.

I guess it's definitely a preference situation. I strongly dislike "simple juices" and end up choking them down if I must. By making a juice with many complex flavors, I can slip in juice from veggies that I really don't appreciate, but need to get into my diet.
