Fasting and Liver Damage

Hi all.
I have only recently begun to fast and had wondered if fasting could cause liver damage. I looked around the internet but could find no definitive answers on this one.
I decided then to monitor my own liver function to see what was going on during a fast.
I have attached here 2 test results....one is a baseline liver function result (I had had no alcohol for days previous to that test) and the other is after 7 days of water fasting.
I noted that the European average parameters are lower than the parameters given as guidelines from North America....why there is a a discrepancy in "average" parameters is unknown to me.
I should point out that I am over weight. (by as much as 10 kilos perhaps)
My liver may well be described as the fatty variety in any case.
As you can see, there does not seem to be any real significant changes going on after 7 days into the water fast and all the results fall within the normal healthy range.
So there you go.

Hey Edd, Thanks for sharing your test results. I'm not an expert, except on my own body LOL, but I have read that depending on what kinds of toxicity there is in your body, there could be damage to the liver, but I think that is in cases where perhaps there is lead poisoning or something. In those cases, the person should maybe do a juice or food cleanse first to get rid of some of the impurities. The liver has a busy job during fasting but I think in most cases, it welcomes the work. I do recommend following the 5 step elimination cycle to help move those impurities out of the body. Don't forget about that. Are you still fasting or do you have plans for further fasting?

I came off that fast as I had overdone physical exercise (I think I cycled about 15k) and in the evening felt VERY nauseous. I am at the moment beginning another small 5 day fast. I have decided that until I get to a weight target (83-85 kilo) I'll alternate 5 days of water fast with 3 days of re-feeding with healthy food choices.
I find fasting ridiculously easy to do, never experience hunger or cravings for food.

That sounds like a terrific plan. I wonder if you never experience hunger because of the healthy food choices you make. Do you mind if I ask what is your typical diet? In my experience, what I ate leading up to a fast really influences whether I have headaches or food cravings.

Hi there again.
I generally avoid sugar, I don't drink coffee anymore. I usually have lean chicken breast meat with vegetables of some sort and avoid snacking. If I snack I grab a handful of almonds or other healthier choices. I don't drink cow's milk but rather prefer goat milk and goat cheese. The only red meat I eat is steak but that is a rare occurrence.
I pleasure myself up with bread and bio jam and honey some mornings. If I splurge on a big plate of pasta or animal fat cooked french fries I'll do a 24 hour fast from that point to the next meal. I seriously wish I had stumbled on fasting years ago...would have saved sooo much cash and time on fitness centres and constantly thinking about food in/exercise out.
Now I simply don't eat but have upped my cycling and walking as I am full of energy while fasting. (and off!)
