David,

Thank you for posting this. It was a really interesting audio interview. I agree with much of what I heard in it. I am a skeptic on most things, so when I first started fasting, I recorded what I was experiencing as I fasted. (I continue to keep a journal, of course.) I have found Andre's experiences to be very much in line with mine. Much appreciated! :)

Areas of specialty and interests: Canon and Fugue; Greek and Latin language and literature; Marathoning and Ultramarathoning; Martial Arts (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Shotokan {Kissaki-Kai} Karate); Medieval and Renaissance music notation; Television series (All In the Family; Charmed, Dark Shadows, Lost, The Outer Limits, Roswell, Star Trek); Theology; Twelfth- and thirteenth-century conductus,...

Doctor as the skin is the major organ for eliminating hydrophobic toxins could they contribute to premature skin ageing? Today we have not only a greater volume of toxins to eliminate but also a plethora of new toxins to deal with. If one starts to sweat out toxins but does not wash them off or the elimination process is not fully completed such as in your elimination cycles presumably toxins would just linger in and around the skin via sweat glands etc. affecting the dermis and hypodermis.

Really pleased you liked it Ockeghem.

Actually, dear David, if the toxins are NOT eliminated they would contribute more to skin ageing.. sitting in the skin waiting for the sweat glands to do their thing. The problem with just sweating without the preceding 2 steps of the 5-step cycle, is that the sweat then contains very little toxin, and you need a lot to get rid of a little..

Doing so regularly reduces the overall toxin "load", thus protecting the skin.

What an amazing interview, bravo wise Doctor! You really shone in this one. I did find the information on nutrition increasing cancer growth disturbing. Does that mean all those sites touting raw cleanses and healthy juices and such for cancer patients are wrong? Kris Carr credits her cancer remission to her healthy diet in "Crazy sexy diet". Should one eat junk if they have cancer? This is troubling to my previously held beliefs. Also is fasting enough to remove heavy metals from the body? I see claims by others, that given the amount of mercury and lead in the environment the only way to be healthy is to take a specially formulated chelation prescription. Could/would a solid IF routine solve this problem instead? It would indeed be wonderful if lead, mercury and other heavy metals could evacuated with just IF.

I've listened to the interview twice now, going back for a third listen. Truly you should list it on Audible as a speech. Such a wealth of information, food for thought indeed.

Indeed dear Mystic at least some scientific trials have found longer survival in junk food eaters than in health food eaters with cancer. Remember good nutrition also nourishes cancer cells if they are around... and that indeed holds for the "healthy juices".

I would not eat junk should I get cancer, but I will fast regularly. We do need the good nutrition for our own cells. On a cellular level, junk is simply not nutritious so the "benefit" it might have shown in these studies would likely be much less than what a real fast would be.

Thus indeed IF would be the way to go.. as part of a greater holistic approach that could include heat therapy (cancer cells can also not survive temperatures as high as what normal cells can).

Thank you for the compliment.

great interview Andre.

In terms of getting things out i agree. Although many people have lived on crap during their live so in our perfect food wich is fruit, greens etc they also contain vitamins and minerals. But these vitamins and minerals is lacking since we havent eaten that food in our upbringing and also the food can come from bad quality farming and soil.

That means some could lack certain vitamins and minerals i guess?

I do see studies showing that fasting starves the cancer cells, so avoiding health food at this time does sound right. It just makes me wonder at all the sites suggesting you can cure with raw foods. I do believe there was a Chemo study that found best results when fasting. I know fastinggurl31 who has a youtube blog on her cancer journey said it was much easier during chemo when she fasted. Thanks for the prompt reply. The wonders of fasting are impressive indeed.

Problem is, dear Super, that "today's food" has more, not less, vitamins and minerals in them... after all, farmers can now analyze their soil and "top up" the nutrients the plants need to grow faster and bigger. "Soothing your conscience" by swallowing overly processed "supplements" and thinking it may make up for your bad food choices is not going to solve the problem. On the contrary, it may aggravate it since the "nutrients" in supplements are typically the stable nutrients, those NOT lost in the chain of manufacture. After all, "supplements" are the most processed of all!

And dear Mystic, Prof Valter Longo of the University of Southern California is the author of many articles on this relationship between fasting and the success of chemotherapy. I accumulate some references online:

thanks for sharing the interview David, and for giving it Dr.
my wife, who is from SA, listened also. for the first time she had an open mind about fasting. hearing the way you put the logic in plain terms really helped.( it did not hurt that she heard it from a fellow South African either :-)

Accept yourself as you are. Otherwise you will never see opportunity. You will not feel free to move toward it; you will feel you are not deserving.
