Hello again,

Anyone have in any experience in foraging in areas such as Florida and Georgia? If so I'm looking for an event/meet to participate in a wild food walk just to get familiar with edible plants hands on. Well just let me know folks!

As a child we picked wild blackberries, strawberries, wild crab apples and so on in North Georgia. My grandma picked pokeberry bush leaves to make salad... but it had to be after the first frost because I believe they are poisonous before. Dandelion greens can be good, but sometimes they are bitter and tough. The most important thing is to know that some things may be toxic. Find an online .pdf for wild crafting in the South, or join a group and get some instruction in what is safe to eat. Here are some resources that may help you.

Apparently there are more than 1000 different edible leaves. And indeed some wild foods are made edible by frost, but those are rare. And be careful for internet lists, do have then checked out by an experiences local expert. Some foods become toxic when they grow at certain altitudes or latitudes only.
