Badly needs a Mentor...

Night of second day. Extreme hunger has tormented me for hours. Same thing that happened the last two attempts. This time I'm not giving in. Stomach aching with hunger and just made myself a hot cup of green tea with a squirt of lemon.

After I post this I am going to pop some benedryl as it works good as a sleeping aid. Not the best practice I know for a water fast, but I'm not giving in this time. My hope is that I can fall to sleep where the hunger torment can't reach me and that tomorrow morning the keytones will have kicked in to reduce the cravings.

Due to this repeated horrible onslaught on my day 2's, I can only surmise that this is where my body is frantic to search for something edible. Perhaps by morning it will have given up and start pumping some of those satisfying keytones in my system. I don't have keytone sticks so I don't have any way of measuring it.

Benedryl, green tea with lemon, surf the net, then sleep when the benedryl kick in. Thats the plan for end of day 2. Horrible, horrible hunger ......

Ohhh :( You've done well to make it through day two with all this happening!

Hunger is the worst! If it's any consolation, day 2 was by FAR my hardest day, and the night of day 2 (In the case that you have a bad night).

The beginning of day three was also difficult but once I got through it's been heaps easier!!

Also, I'm doing this with ketone sticks too - I was worried coz I didnt have them and I'm glad I'm not alone!!

Keep it up!! Can only get easier - and just IMAGINE how you're gunna feel once you've completed this huge challenge!!

Hello all! I'm doing great.. Getting more inspired and motivated by the minute. Dry fasting is indeed the easiest fast I ever had! Easier than water. I didn't feel hungry coz I was preoccupied with I should feel thirsty first then hungry. If I'm feeling the hunger then it's definitely a FALSE signal from my body. Now I'm water fasting until tonight at midnight , I will hydrate myself and when I say hydrate I mean HYDRATE! And then start with dry fast again tomorrow. Im using ketones sticks and I checked it it's moderate already after 36 hrs dry fast!!!

I havebfasted before for 2 weeks and that was mt first fast (2009) and during that time it felt so,easy, I just decided once and I completed it just like that. Not like now, it seems so hard! Btw when I fasted last 2009 I weighed 209lbs!!!! And thanks to fasting I'm now 120lbs!!!

Now what I look forward too instead of eating is feeding my son , makes me feel like I'm eating too. And watching food network. Yum! LOL!!! Gotta love the burgers in Triple Ds and man vs food and dessert in cupcake wars!! LOL!!

Hey I'm babbling! I'm just happy now. :)

How are youse guys doing? Thanks by the way coz I don't feel alone doing this. You are all great! WE CAN DO THIS!!

Ahhh I'm struggling! I'm starting to get anxious over things and am sooo hungry. I'm considering cutting it short to 5 days and just getting into juices/fresh fruits for the rest of the fast.... Gahh!!!

@mhaiyarn76 - great to hear that you're doing well!! And wow, that's a MASSIVE effort with the weight loss!!! How long did it take for you to lose all of that weight?

I have no idea how much I weight, nor how much I've lost (if any) so far. I've been on vacation since last November but before that was very fit - have a high muscle mass and a fast metabolism. I'd put on a fair bit of weight over the hols but I dunno, my stomach STILL feels like it's eating itself!!

@ramblebee.... Come on don't give up today... It's not hunger it's craving!!! Btw a fellow experienced faster told me about him mixing apple cider vinegar (Braggs) in water 1 tsp in ever cup of water. And this helps him carve the cravings not to mention get the benefits of the ACV. You can google it :)

Unfortunately I'm in Thailand and so I don't have access to buying anything! That's the other thing- I'm worried that if something does go wrong with my health then I'm kinda stuffed!! It's 9.30 now so I think I'm gunna have a sleep and see how I'm going when I wake up - I'll probably be feeling heaps better and much less anxious! :)

I remember losing as much as 5 lbs the first day ( water weight of course) then I was losing 2 lbs every sinle day! I now remember that's what inspired me to go on. The 2 lbs a week and when I was done I was down to 160. Since then I ave been doing intermittent fasting (2days) and so far here I am plateued to 120. I miss the feeling of euphoria when I fasted for 2weeks... Everything in me changed while I was fasting for 14 days. I became more creative, energetic. My dreams were sooo vivid. I was more generous, even the way I saw myself was if fervent. I felt the sense that I need to give myself the best of everything. It was awesome!!! I miss those! That's why I want to do the 14 day fast again! :)

120 pounds is still pretty light! Well done for pursuing it even further!! Wow! Yeah I think I've lost a fair bit so far, my abs are starting to show and I haven't exercised in foreeevverr... Might just be water, I dunno. I'm into my fifth day as we speak!

And YES vivid dreams. I have been having SUCH vivid dreams, it's so bazaar! Most of mine are about food though... Haha

I also can't believe that you're able to watch TV shows about food. Whenever I think about food, or see photos of food on blogs/facebook, my mouth waters! Reflective action I suppose!

Great to hear you're in good spirits :) You've made me feel heaps better too!

myhaiyarn, glad you are doing great, keep it up!!!

Ramble bee, sounds like you are experiencing what I was last night. "Stomach eating itself", that would fit what I experienced .. really took me right to the edge of holding on. Well, I took the benedryl and did fall asleep. I woke up about 15 minutes ago and I feel fine again!! It went away when I was sleeping. Don't give up, get a good sleep and maybe you will be back to normal.

I'm hoping last night (day 2 night) was the worst. I'm on day 3 now and glad I am still in this. I'm hoping that by making it to day 3 that it will be easier and no more super attack like last night.

Morning day 3, feeling o.k.

mhaiyarn, thanks for posting the tip about apple cider in the water to curb cravings, I'll add that to my arsenal of weopons in this battle. hey, when the hunger hits so bad like last night, I'm willing to try anything as long as it's not eating food.

It's wierd, it's like I dropped 5 pounds overnight. it's an analog scale and I am weighing at a different time of day ... but one things for sure, I am seeing weight loss.

My dream is to do 21 days. The only way that will be possible is if the super hunger attacks stop. But if last night was the worst, the dream may be in sight. Afterall, only 18 days away from that goal now.

I CERTAINLY DO NOT NEED TO BE A BIG FAT APE!

I CERTAINLY DO NOT NEED #*%@'in FOOD TO SURVIVE!!!!

I WILL SWING BRANCH TO BRANCH THROUGH THE FOREST AGAIN LIKE WHEN I WAS A YOUNG APE BEFORE I'M TOO OLD FOR IT TO MATTER!!!!

WATER FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I STILL STAND IN VICTORY ON DAY 3 MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the support guys - feeling much better today!!

@mhaiyarn76 - Thanks for the link, I read it during my mid-night wake up. (Haha this has happened every night so far!) AND you're right - who am I kidding stopping at day 5? Day 7 at LEAST must be seen! I'm gunna aim for that but once I get there aim for day 10. Only 5 sleeps left anyway, which is not bad!! I find night times the hardest by far..
Also, water fasting - I hope you're finding it okay now!

@Jimmy2Fat - Thanks for the encouragement and good to hear your going strong! I love the metaphors and your enthusiasm, just great!! :D

Here's to another day people!! (also, hope Lisa's going well!)

Long day,and this 3rd day evening .... about as good as fasting gets as far as I know ... no major surge attack of hunger. I filled a glass of water and stirred in a healthy dose of apple cider vinegar (courtesy of mhaiyarn) .. just had a good drink of it. You know, not bad .. almost like a cheap whisky taste lol :) I did have bearable cravings and thought I would see if it helped supress them ... gulp gulp .. JUST DOWNED THE REST .. WO MAMA!!! THAT'S STRONG!!!

.. couple min later ... you know, if I wasn't fasting and on a full stomach, I might vomit on my keyboard after drinking that .. but being in a completely different situation with fasting and all ... I'm kind of enjoying that very strong apple cider flavor. It does seem to surpress the craving I had .. perhaps cuz now I have a rock gut feeling and my gums feel like they are bleeding vinegar ... but hey seems to work. Nice call there mhaiyarn! Next time major hunger hits,I'm sure I will down a few glasses of this stuff if I get desparate.

Glad to see you survived your earlier struggle ramble bee.

Wow .. this apple cider really has me overwhelmed. I didn't measure any tablespoon or anything, I just poured in a good amount and mixed with water .... woah baby .. I have to stop typing and just sit here a while. You guys gotta try this ... for same massive effect, pour in a good amount of acv .... WOW!

LOL! you got me laughing there Jimmy! Hey go easy on the ACV! you dont want to end up having hyperacidity! But yes it does help me tune down the hunger... plus it helps melt away the fat! who wouldnt want that!

Im on water fasting now and later at midnight back to dry fasting again..im still feeling normal..no weakness.. which is weird but from time to time i would have this wave of craving...but hey..thanks to food network!!! im FULL!

Haha facebook is a bit of a lifesaver isnt it? Good to hear you're still on the bandwagon - both of you!!

And Jimmy, you make me laugh!! Apple Cider Vinegar is so good though! I have it sometimes if I'm feeling as though I've had too many carbs, helps break it down!

OKAY so, I'm feeling good mentally. I'm just a bit worried as whenever I get up and walk more than ten metres I feel SO weak and my heart beats at a gazillion beats per minute. Is this normal?!

I'm moving to a different part of the Island tomorrow and will have to carry my heavy pack at least 200 metres - I'm just a little concerned that my heart will fail or something! Also getting near-blackouts getting up quickly, but I'm not overly concerned about this!

When you guys did the fasts earlier, were you supervised?
