TRH the life generating molecule vs fasting

According to world expert in the function and role of melatonin Dr Walter Pierpaoli age 79 is the fist person to sell 5mg TRH sublingual tablets over the counter costing $200 per 20 tablets. TRH is one of six hormones secreted by the hypothalamus which stimulates the production of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone and Prolactin from the anterior pituitary which is often described as the 'master gland'. According to Dr Pierpaoli dieting is futile as in his words 'one must understand what is going on'. This encompasses getting to grips with the root cause of the issue via a comprehensive knowledge of the immune system and its hierarchical structures with emphasis on Melatonin and the TRH molecule.

Treating impotence, arteriosclerosis, hypothyroidism, high blood sugar, tired metabolism and obesity with dieting is a waste of time according to Dr Pierpaoli. If the foot soldiers and Lieutenant General (thyroid) are not doing the job correctly it is not their fault as they are just following orders so it must be down to an corrupted line of command. In simple parlance, the message from the General is not filtering through. Dr Pierpaoli's top-down approach attempts to patch this line of command by 'fixing' the master gland ( pineal & pituitary) by taking regular doses of lab synthesised Melatonin and TRH supplements. And according to him it is going to be the most significant health and rejuvenation drug of the future with no side effects.

It is easy to see the attraction of taking the 'red' (TRH) pill when it means achieving one's health goals without dieting, especially if Dr Pierpaoli is right in his assertions that dieting is only patching the mess created by the 'foot soldiers'. But if taking the 'blue' (fasting) pill would result in the hypothalamus producing and secreting sufficient quantities of TRH for the pituitary to function correctly then it would be -in my opinion- an altogether better option. Not only would it be a whole lot easier on one's pocket, but like so many natural hygienic / nature cure practices; self empowering, educational and oftentimes completely free. But there is a small price to pay: opting for healthier lifestyle choices which include consuming less processed foods, regular fasting and detoxing.

Given half the chance the body is exceptionally good at self regulating itself otherwise known as homeostasis. With expert guidance naturopathic and allopathic drugs may well have their place in todays world but when they are taken routinely without careful monitoring a dependency can form where the body ceases to produce its own biological responses to deal with the effects of illness and disease.

The pituitary is, of course, under the control of the Hypothalamus which might make the latter the "master gland" or "master of the master gland"..

The endocrine system is rather complicated and Melatonin is but one of many different chemicals exerting their influence on this level.

Marketing of "products" is easiest if it can be kept simple. Thus a lot of detail is lost when a single substance such as Melatonin is marketed. I have looked into this over many years and can state categorically that I will not pay money for Melatonin.

Similarly, the Hypothalamus "decides" how much TRH (Thyroid Releasing Hormone) to make, so that the Pituitary (hypohpysis) can produce TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) so the the Thyroid can produce T4 (Thyroxine or Thyroid Hormone) so that the cells can convert some of it to T3 (The more active form).

But in the background of this is a finely tuned "orchestra" of which the Hypothalamus is the "conductor". Meddling with a finely tuned system based on biofeedback tends to disrupt the melody.

I agree with you David; the body wants to and can maintain a beautiful balance (homeostasis) and each time we impose on it from outside we tend to upset that very balance. Fasting remains by far superior to any other intervention in resetting the homeostasis.
