Weight: 152lbs

Today is my first day of my 10 day water fast! This morning I weighed in at 152lbs. I hope to lose at least a pound a day during this fast to jump start my weight loss! FYI, this fast is for weight loss and body detoxification. Today, I wasn't that hungry; whenever I felt a hunger pain I would drink more water and it would go away like in a minute.

I will be posting on my weight loss and the ups and downs of this journey for the remaining 9 days!

Wish me luck! :)

Dietgirl1234,

I lost 21.0 lbs. in ten days, so you might have an attainable goal here. Best wishes, and welcome aboard! :)

Now Now... I recall Ockeghem once mentioning in a post how he does lots of running during a fast and I am thinking maybe this is how he acheived such weight loss in a week. LOL.

I can't remember the last time I did a good long run but it was probably when I was in high school. Ockeghem how much running did you do during a fast to lose such a big amount of weight in just a 10 day period? Also how do you do it or how much do you run or walk when a fast has gone over 2 weeks and your body gets weak or tired?

Nizo,

That could be the case, but in actuality it really isn't. The last two fasts I have completed of more than two weeks have not included more than ten miles per week of running from me. So it has a little bit of an effect on the amount of weight I lose, but no where near the same effect had I been running considerably more miles per week during a fast.

I have never run more than twenty miles in one week during a fast. I am too fatigued to do too much more than that. (One has to remember too that I attend four martial arts classes per week whether I am fasting or not, so that takes its toll as well to some extent.)

When I am not fasting, I usually run anywhere between 40-60 miles per week. I occasionally run less (24-32 miles per week) and I occasionally run more (64-80 per week). It really depends on the time of the year, as my training schedule is really governed by the calendar year.

As for how I do it, I don't really think I am all that effective a runner during a fast. Doing a ten-miler on any given day in week two (or three) of a fast is very difficult. The keytones are obviously being used for my heart and brain (and other important functions). I think that burning the candle at both ends simultaneously (fasting and doing a lot of miles) is not realistic, although as David once remarked, it could be that there are toxins remaining in the body that if removed, I might find that I could run more effectively (i.e., longer distances during fasting).

As for walking, that has never been a problem at all during any of my fasts. I generally walk around ten miles per week, and usually no more than four miles at any one time. But I could do more -- it's just that I usually run as well on the same days that I walk.

10 miles a week during a fast!!!! Now that is sure something!! are you monitoring your running at 2 miles a day or is it more a casual type thing? Off the top of my head it almost seems as that would probably be the only way one could lose such an amount of weight in such a short period of time. I only wish my body could do such a thing during a fast but I just can't with the weakness. Then again maybe I could try and force/push myself to see if I could go behond 5 miles or so within a day period. I have considered a one a day gummi vitamin at the start and end of each week through my water fast to see if that helps I guess in time I will see if it will aid me having more energy.

Nizo,

I try very hard to run twenty miles per week when fasting. This usually amounts either to four miles per day five times per week, or five miles per day four times per week. And the mileage is much easier during the first week as the glucose and glycogen stores are not used up until about the fourth or fifth days of my fasts.

I routinely lose 10-11 lbs. during the first three days of any fast regardless of whether or not I run. It's in the second and third weeks of a fast where losing weight becomes a bit more challenging for me. If I run about four or five miles in any given day at that point, I will lose about two lbs. per day.

Happy fasting.
