Fasting Between Thanksgiving and Christmas

Hey everyone,
I have reached Day 4 on my between the holidays fast. The first two days I worked but I felt pretty good. I did choose to include coffee in the fast because I felt so fatigued and it has really helped. Since my fast is mainly for weight loss and not for healing or spiritual reasons, I don't mind that it's not technically a 'water fast' but a no food fast.

Day 1 I weighed in at 135 (quite a lot for me since I'm only 5'1 1/2") and I normally weigh 108-112 and have fasted as low as 96 lbs at my lightest, which I wouldn't want to maintain. Although I remember last year being obsessed with maintaining 98 lbs. It's amazing how attractive 112 lbs looks from the perspective of 135. When I was pregnant, the highest I weighed was 150 so 135 non-pregnant is unacceptable to me.

Day 2 saw a weight of 133.5 and Day 3 saw 131. This morning, Day 4 I weighed 130 lbs. Moving along nicely. Perhaps this fast feels easier because I have more reserves than I usually have. Whether if it's because of more reserves or because of allowing myself to drink coffee, I feel at this point that I could sustain this for quite some time. I don't have a number of days picked out but I'm going to fast till a bit under my goal weight.

Hi Lisafast,

Congrats on day four and good luck with day 5. I know what you meant by having those extra reserves :)

Day five is well on the way, but I didn't lose any weight!!! Oh well, tomorrow I'll lose two pounds. Anyway, I feel good, weak and easily exhausted but good. I have off today (as yesterday and Sunday) and I plan to spend the day reading and relaxing. I am already starting to stress about work. There is so much pressure that has been applied to my job that it is no longer a place where I look forward to going. I don't know if anything is going to change, because it seems that the only changes that happen at work anymore are negative. I love what I do (hair) and I love my clients, it's just the micromanaging that I hate anymore. I mean, here it is at 8:15 in the morning and all I am thinking about is dreading 1pm tomorrow when I go back to work. I know I need to make some change but it will be difficult as the place I work pretty much tells you they will do your clients for free for a year to prevent them from coming with you if you change salons. I really need to just put this out of my mind and enjoy the rest of my "weekend".

Yesterday I had about three cups of coffee with heavy cream and liquid sucralose which I bought online from Sweetzfree.com It has no calories nor carbs and you can add as much without adding any calories or carbs. It has fantastic sweetening power. One drop equals 1 1/2 Teaspoons of sugar sweetness. Anyway, my total carbs yesterday was 1.2 and my calories were 172 but I did a treadmill workout for an hour and burned about 300 calories so I'm not sure why no weight loss. But I'm going to keep plugging away.

Thanks Mystic! I really appreciate that!

Crapola! I typed an entire post and clicked preview and when I saw a typo, I went to backspace and something happened and everything disappeared. ARGH!!!

Last night I did something stupid and that I don't recommend for anyone, including myself ever again. For some reason I wanted to drink with my boyfriend, so I looked up low carb margarita recipes and had not the one I was planning but 3(!!!)and I don't even remember last night except waking up at three with only a shirt on, no bra, can't find my panties and I feel like I'm going to throw up. See, I didn't do any of this stuff in my teens or twenties, so I'm experiencing it all now as a newly divorced 45 year old. Ha.

Anyway, I will not continue that on my fast and I will probably never have another margarita because of the nausea that it invokes. But I still lost weight and am still in moderate ketosis.

Remember yesterday when I didn't lose any weight and I said I'd probably lose two pounds today? I was almost right. I lost 2.5 lbs to weigh in at 127.5. I am only 15.5 lbs away from my goal weight. I do want to fast a little lower than that, though because of how when you begin eating, you weigh more because of the undigested food.

Anyway, I am noticeably thinner looking and I am trying not to enjoy that too much because I won't be satisfied until I am maintaining 112 lbs or less, like I did for 14 years until this past 6 months. Happy fasting!

OMG Alcohol packs a punch when fasted. I expect that hangover is one you won't forget for awhile. Great job on sticking to the fast even when having a drink (or three :D )
Congrats on the weight loss!

You are so right , Mystic. I will never do that again. The good thing is that I felt so crappy yesterday that it convinced me to convert to water fasting only. No more coffee for me and of course no alcohol. Yesterday I almost broke the fast because of heartburn and upset stomach but instead I took some rolaids and am now on day 7. Week one down!!!

I completed 8 days fasting (6 with the help of coffee) and now I am in an eating window until tomorrow night. I'm enjoying eating but looking forward to fasting again.

Day 1 of my second between the holidays fast. I am about 15 hours into fasting and I've fasted completely dry. The only contact I had with water was hand washing and tooth brushing. I plan to just rest and relax for the remainder of the day.
