I was hoping someone could tell me if oil-pulling has any effect on digestion/metabolism/ketosis. Will it have any negative effect on my fast?

We have discussed oil pulling some time back on these forums dear Ayamagali. Although I personally do not follow this practice, in theory at least it should not have any detrimental effect on the fasting and eliminating process. The only small misgiving is the possibility that the taste involved may signal your brain that you are eating and this could slow the shift to catabolism. But if it is a pure oil with little taste, this should be a minor issue.

And if you use coconut oil, it helps to keep you in ketosis. It creates ketone bodies. I've used it before and I think I might now because of this dang cold I have.

Quite true, Lisa. But the "purist" in me would still say a fast is void of all taste and all substances other than pure water...
