curious if a water fast will result in loose skin? or in the healing process does the body take care of that?

I have been water/dry fasting since January this year and lost over 20kg and don't have any loose skin everyone's different but I personally didn't experience any.

I also read that if you keep losing fat loose skin normally tightens by it self in time. You didn't see many people with a six pack and loose skin.

Dear Jcurious,

It all depends on your age and your skin elasticity. During dry fast the speed of weight loss is significantly higher then in any other circumstances so yes, you might develop some loose skin; however, like Cory stated it all depends on the individual. Also once you come out of fast and start refeeding yourself with time it does improve.

May the Energy you free from digesting serves your Body and Spirit well!

I agree with you Milena. But even more so: Your individual skin goes individual far beyond just your age. Each person is different. I have seen some people whose skin hang like sheets after a large weight loss and I have seen some who become baby smooth again.

However, doing regular elimination activities during the fast tends to tone it up: Both the massage and cold phases contribute to this.

He's talking about a step in the Five Step Elimination Cycle.

"In a nutshell, at least twice daily, try to perform the following steps in short succession:

1. Dynamic: Try to push your pulse rate up to (200 minus your age);
2. Tonic: WHILE the heart is still beating fast, massage this excess circulation into your skin (the main elimination organ during fasting);
3. Pyrophase: WHILE this excess circulation is still in the skin, activate the sweat glands in a sauna, steam room, hot bath or shower.;
4. Criophase: Cool down your skin to re-ropute the now "filtered" blood circulation back to the internal organs: Cold shower, plunge pool or allow the sweat to evaporate.
5. Stabilization: Now rest until you feel up to facing the next cycle.. or have to go to work. or just go to bed."

I agree with Cory. I do the Sauna, Steam and swimming at the gym. Having cold showers between each session. I go running, then do the gym, be it Cardio and some high rep, low weights, then do the above. It's only a small pool, but quite cool.
At the end of all this, there is one more item, the Jacuzzi. Ah, bliss!
I go home, my skin is drum tight, hardly any fat, and feel good.
(Must work, as Andrea is now living with me, from my school days...) and she's a nurse, and says I've got the skin of a boy
