Dear Fasting Friends, :)

I seem to hit problems when I try to fast. Been at it for almost a year now.
Though I plan to fast, at home, next month, (as I have in the past been doing) and work with my diet/weight, and acid issues, to better improve the odds, of getting this regime, (fasting for long periods) to work, (if need be), I also want to do research on the best clinic's out there for folks with my brand of issues, (mental illness).

I am not a negative person, but this needs to be said, for my personal help, in finding a good place, so you will know where I am coming from.

I contacted, a clinic, (TrueNorth) and was interested in it's resources. It looked like it had promise.
In an email, to a doc, there, though, when I told the fasting practitioner, why I wanted to fast, he responded, that "I could not be cured." I want to find a place with a more positive and experienced perspective. Since, even I know, (after much research,) of fasting case studies of complete recovery..
For this reason, I want to find not just any clinic, but one with the ideals and know how, to help me with my needs. And for another: I would like to find a place that deal's specifically with this specific health issue and have had results.

(I respect this clinic and have heard great things and healing through, it, so please, do not think I am bashing it. Said the above only for perspective..)

If you know of a good clinic, specializing in helping mental illness, like B polar and Schizophrenia, your help would be a godsend. Any news, you have would be received from a heart of gratitude. :cheer:

Thank you!

Respectfully,
Joseph Sullivan

You might want to post this question in the section for The Fast Doctor.

There is a clinic in Australia run by Alec Burton.
www.alecburton.com/
He probably has more experience than anyone.

You should also contact Dr. Scott in Ohio.
fasting.ms11.net/drscott.html
He also has many, many years of experience.

Dear Joseph,

Mild Schizophrenia has been successfully treated in Russia with long water fasts (21 days and more) but that would be too far from you and there is no guarantee they would speap English at the clinic. I will see if I find some web references for you and post them here. You can use Google Chrome to translate.

Milena, THANK YOU. :) Since the time when you have told me about Russia, I have learned alot. From the info you have given and some of my own google, Russia study. The site you gave me awhile back, www.filonov.net/ from the fasting practitioner, Filonov Sergei, has a fasting center/retreat. And the price is amazingly cheap, 60$ a day. With great package items.. ( www.fastingconnection.com/world-fasting-...er-sinegore_262.html )

But, your right, it is far, I can't see Russia from my back yard... and I don't know if they speak English. But, from what you have showed, and what I have seen, Russia fasting practitioner's seem to know their stuff, better then most.. So I will look into this, person and fasting center, further.

I am very grateful in all the help you have given me. I really am. Thank you. :cheer:

Joseph, Have you contacted Dr Kruger re his experience with mental illness? And have you thought about a Christian fasting retreat. There are two which come to mind:
www.fastingconnection.com/world-fasting-...nner-fruits_286.html

and

www.fastingconnection.com/world-fasting-...s/freedomyou_41.html

and

www.fastingconnection.com/world-fasting-...fold-retreat_50.html

I was thinking along the lines of fasting combined with prayer.

Prayer is also a very powerful tool and science is gradually coming round to this fact too.

Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

Is Dr. Kruger, the "The Fast Doctor" on this forum? I should probably, get more, advise, "The Fast Doctor," I know would be of help.. Though, from my interaction with doc's, not every rose, smells, sweet.

I like where your coming from, David. That is a really great idea, having spiritual folks, helping, in this, would be ideal. I am a big believer of prayer..
Don't want to sound, like a heathen, but, with schizophrenia, well, the illness, is agitated, by doing "religious" things. I still do them, when I can, but with fasting coupled in the mix, as much as I would, in theory, like this, in practice, I do not think this would work out to well.

I will be praying though. Hope and prayer are to cousin's that should never part. And each makes the other stronger..

Best wishes..

You are very welcome! There is a Dr. Olga Shved who is trained psychologist currently specializing in fasting. She is also Russian. I posted a question regarding your issue on her forum tonight and hopefully she has experience treating mental illness and will provide us with some advice.

Milena, thank you. From all I have seen, because of you, and from what you have shown me. Russian's seem to know a great deal about fasting and mental health in connection to this.

Your continually giving me so much of your time. THANK YOU :) I am excited to hear what she says. And very, much appreciate all your help, advise and support.

Hi Christian144,

I heard the pastor of The Moody Church in Chicago mentioning that sometimes the root of some problems may not be only physical but also of spiritual nature. Especially if a person or his/her close ancestors were involved in the occult, wizardry or things of that nature. I have no idea if this is the case here, but your statement "the illness, is agitated, by doing "religious" things" sounds almost like a red flag to me.

You might want to give them a call or email if interested. www.moodychurch.org/ . He also stated that they have successfully helped people in this kind of specific situation.

In this day and age when occultism is getting its way inside the church by putting on a "Christian", "we are all one", "new" and "scientific" facade, all of us can get very easily fooled, and step on a spiritual territory that a Christian has no business being... One can see some of that confusion even among us here on this site, at times. There is a Devil still, which has not just disappeared overnight, he just changed/adapted his perverse tactics to fool as many people as possible, even those who believe and love Jesus Christ.

Looks like this is not at all the case here. Well, I was just shooting in dark, so to speak, trying to be of help if at all possible.

Here's something that have helped with some of my own mental struggles like illogical phobias, discouragement, etc. Or depression, which I began to struggle with, after my younger brother was hit from behind and killed on the spot by a driver who was driving many miles over the legal speed limit and couldn't stop his car...

Simply having the words of Jesus on my iPod and listening to them as much as I could. Like when being on the train, instead of listening to music, I would listen to His Words. In all honesty, with time, those words cured me inwardly of some of those issues. Since then I feel more wholesome inwardly, and I enjoy and I am grateful for each day, I simply love life more. Even with all the struggles we have to face each day, life it's great blessing, an awesome experience given to us, to enrich us and make the rest of the eternity even more enjoyable and happy for us.

Not sure if this works in your case, but it was pretty much revolutionary for me.

Be blessed,
Greg

I remember reading in The Way of The Pilgrim (a Russian Orthodox classic), some of the people the pilgrim met on his journey had cured himself of severe alcoholism by reading the Gospels when ever he had a craving. The Holy Word acted like a medicine for him.

Esmée, I didn't know about that, very interesting. Another confirmation that this works in many cases. As always, your posts are very informative and useful. Thank you!

At the time when I was experiencing with these I thought I was unto something which it was not known, almost like I discovered something not many knew about.

But then I found out that there are health retreats where people in very relaxing environment, among other things are "served", audio portions from the words of Jesus. And they claimed good results with mental related issues.

What I am listening to is "The Bible Experience". It is done very professionally by big name actors. It sounds very realistic, with background noises related to the story being told, etc. Even my daughter who is a toddler, likes it and asks to listen to it... www.inspiredby.com/bibleexperience.shtml

There are also plenty of other audio versions around which are available for free. English Standard Version is acclaimed as being very faithful to the original and using modern English still:

I got a response from Dr. Shved and she did not have any practical knowledge of treating mental illnesses with fasting, only theoretical one. I will keep my eyes open for you though if I see any other source of information.

I really am grateful for you sharing what you personally have seen, Greg. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your brother, and your loss. Such things, make it hard to feel and see things, as we would like. I struggle with fears, and depression too.. though these issues are small for me. Got other stuff, that is more difficult and serious, mainly extreme mental fatigue and mental sensitivities, (that I mentioned earlier.) I went ahead and tried what you said, giving it a go, while fasting, not withstanding my sensitive state towards Bible study, (as well as religion in general), and it seemed to help me, in endurance and in my spirit, while I am fasting.

Listened to Psalms on an audiobook, yesterday. Going to do this again today..

"Simply having the words of Jesus on my iPod and listening to them as much as I could. Like when being on the train, instead of listening to music, I would listen to His Words. Your someone that see's what is most important, and seeks the souls, need first. I amen you, and am appreciative of your advise. It is very sound. What point in gaining the whole world, if my spirit, and heart is weak? And, this seems to help me, in body/fasting too. So, in this, as much as my illness will permit, which it seems to allow more then I expected, (since I have been fasting,) I'll do.

From what you have said, it sounds, like it is something that has revolutionary benefits and blessings. Thank you Greg for sharing this method and God way's with me.

Many blessings to you...

Joseph

Thanks Milena :) for checking your resource out for me. And for looking, for retreats, that specialize in this illness!

I have just started, fasting again, (after doing 2 months on 100 percent raw foods, fruits and veggies).

I have been doing what you told me, with, "dry fasting," and (as of yet/as you mentioned,) I am having, no serious problems, with fasting, as I was having on previous fasting, while doing only "water fasts."

Again thank you, Milena, for your great help, with the past advise you gave me, with dry fasting.

Maybe, this is the key, that will finally allow me to go through the door. Been wanting to fast, really fast, (in long term fasting) for awhile now.

Yeah, I think that's the word - revolutionary, it changed me inwardly, more than I would have thought. This is more than having a "correct" philosophy, theology, world-view or mindset. These words that Jesus spoke are food for our spirits. I am inclined to believe we were designed inwardly in such a way, to NEED those words. Jesus Christ is our Maker, He must know pretty well how He designed us :- )

"Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God" has a new and fuller meaning to me now.
I am glad you can take better "religious" things. We need them, if taken in the loving spirit they were delivered to us, they will benefit us tremendously. For example, I also find myself resisting better to fear. It’s more than having some positive, better thoughts, as good as those may be. It’s a strength that just flows from inside, when tuned inwardly on these.

I believe it’s totally within reach, if we persist in these things, to get to the point where one has absolutely no fear whatsoever. bible.cc/1_john/4-18.htm

Hi Joseph,

A fast would definitely be a great way to heal your body. Before and also after the fast, you may want to look into the "Gut and Psychology Syndrom". There is a book by that name written by a doctor from the UK named Natasha Campbell-McBride. She healed her son of autism with diet alone - no meds. The premise of the book is that gut dysbiosis leads to mental issues because the bacteria in the gut give off toxins which cross the blood brain barrier and cause these mental issues. She talks a lot about autistic children, but the "diet" and lifestyle she recommends also addresses other mental issues as well as general health issues.

You can check www.gapsdiet.com and www.gaps.me if you don't feel like buying the book. There is also a Yahoo group called "GAPS Help".

I wish you the best in what ever you choose to do.

Blessings,
Kristina
